Cedar Decks

Milwaukee Cedar Deck Builders

For many people, the only choice for decking is cedar. Cedar is prized for its rich colors and natural beauty, and because it’s not pumped full of chemicals and or preservatives. Cedar also contains both tannins and oils which makes them naturally resistant to rot, decay and inserts. Cedar comes in four grades of decking the most expensive being the clearest cedar. Make sure you know what you’re getting when you receive cedar decking estimates.

Please note that if your cedar decking is not stained that it will eventually weather to a soft silvery gray.

Ipe Decks

Milwaukee Ipe Deck Builders (pronouns epay}

When it comes to natural wood decking Ipe is what everyone wishes they had. It's a beautiful hardwood that's similar in appearance to mahogany, but a darker, richer crimson and a rich-grained wood. Ipe is an extremely hard wood and is very durable no wonder it’s called the iron wood. Ipe decking is the most expensive option when coming to decking but it will sure stand the test of time.

Please note that if your Ipe decking is not stained that it will eventually weather to a soft silvery gray.

Pressure Treated Decks

Milwaukee Pressure Treated Deck Builders

Despite all the competition of decking materials out there today AC2 pressure treated decking is still the most used today. The widespread popularity of Ac2 pressure treated decking shouldn’t come as a surprise considering it’s affordable and easily available across the United States. Most Ac2 decking is milled from southern pine and then chemically treated to resist rot, fungus and wood-boring bugs.

PVC Decks

Milwaukee PVC Deck Builders

Not everyone likes PVC decking being that it's manmade, but PVC decking does have certain advantages over other decking. It’s an extremely low-maintenance decking material and never needs to be sanded, refinished or stained, ever! PVC decking can also handle the elements and is a stain-resistant decking which won’t slinter, warp, rot or split. Unlike wood composite decking PVC decking will not rot when in damp areas.

Aluminum Decks

Milwaukee Aluminum Deck Builders

Aluminum decking may not be for everyone for the only reason being the price tag. Aluminum decking won’t rot, rust, warp, splinter, or crack and is mold and slip resistant. Its powder coated finish lasts virtually forever and it’ll never peel or blister. Aluminum can't catch fire, wood-boring bugs hate it, and it's cryogenically strong, meaning it doesn't get brittle in extremely cold weather. And, it's totally recyclable.

When compared with wood, wood composite and PVC composite, aluminum decking is three to four times lighter, yet two to three times stronger. Aluminum decking actually stays cooler in the sun than most other types of decking because of the metal's superior heat-dissipation properties.

Most aluminum planks have interlocking edges, which create gap-free, watertight decks. Built-in, self-draining channels collect and dispose of rainwater. Provided you can keep the channels debris-free, the feature is particularly useful for second-story decks since the space below stays dry.

Not everyone likes composites decking being that its manmade, but composite decking does have certain advantages over wood decking. It’s an extremely low-maintenance decking material and never needs to be sanded, refinished or stained, ever! Composite decking can also handle the elements and is a stain-resistant decking which won’t slinter, warp or split. Although composite decking is made with wood fibers and in very damp area of the deck can eventually show signs of decay.
