Absolute Home Improvements recently completed a full roof replacement and chimney rebuild project on a residential home in Franklin. This project addressed both long-term structural concerns and energy efficiency while restoring the home’s exterior protection system.
The project began with extensive chimney work. Our team performed complete chimney tuckpointing to restore the masonry and improve structural integrity. Two damaged clay flue liners were removed and replaced, followed by the installation of a custom-poured, reinforced concrete chimney cap designed with proper expansion joints around the flues. Once rebuilt, the entire chimney was sealed to protect against moisture intrusion and freeze-thaw damage. The chimney system was finished with a custom-bent aluminum chimney flashing in white, ensuring a watertight transition between the roof and masonry.
After completing the chimney rebuild, we moved on to the roofing portion of the project. The existing roofing system was fully removed, allowing for a complete deck inspection to confirm the roof structure was sound and ready for new materials. A properly rated underlayment system was then installed to meet code requirements and provide a durable secondary layer of protection against wind-driven rain and ice.
For the new roof, we installed limited-lifetime Owens Corning Duration shingles in the Energy Star–rated Shasta White color. This shingle choice offers excellent durability while reflecting solar heat, helping improve overall energy efficiency. To complete the roofing system, we upgraded the attic ventilation by installing the VentSure ridge vent system, which promotes consistent airflow and helps regulate attic temperature and moisture levels.
This project was completed efficiently with close attention to detail, ensuring the home is protected from the elements while benefiting from improved ventilation and long-term performance. The homeowner was pleased with the craftsmanship and the upgraded exterior systems.
