Absolute Home Improvements completed this roof and gutter replacement project on a residential home in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This project required a full tear-off and structural upgrades to ensure the new roofing system met manufacturer requirements and delivered long-term performance.
Our team removed three layers of asphalt shingles along with one layer of cedar shake roofing. During tear-off, it was discovered that the original roof decking was spaced more than a quarter inch apart. To retain the shingle manufacturer warranty and ensure proper fastening, 7/16-inch OSB roof decking was installed across the entire roof surface.
The roofing system was completed using multiple materials based on roof design. Mule-Hide .60 mil EPDM rubber roofing was installed on the front porch for reliable waterproofing on the low-slope section. Owens Corning Duration asphalt shingles in Estate Grey were installed on the remaining pitched roof areas. To improve attic airflow and long-term roof health, the Owens Corning VentSure ridge vent system was added. The project was finished with new 5-inch aluminum gutters in white to ensure proper water management.
Homes in Milwaukee often feature older roof systems with multiple layers and outdated decking that no longer meet current standards. Proper roof replacement, re-decking, and ventilation upgrades are critical for protecting the home and maintaining manufacturer warranties.
