Absolute Home Improvements completed this large-scale skylight installation on a residential home in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This project focused on adding natural light, ventilation, and emergency egress through the installation of four oversized Velux skylights.
Our team framed in and installed four Velux PK10 top-hinged egress skylights, each designed to open up to 45 degrees. These skylights provide exceptional natural light while also offering fresh air ventilation, even during rainy conditions thanks to their advanced design. Due to their size and weight, each skylight required careful planning, structural framing, and precise installation to ensure long-term performance and safety.
Each skylight measures over three feet wide by more than five feet tall and weighs over 165 pounds, making this a technically demanding installation. Proper flashing and sealing methods were used to ensure a watertight finish that integrates seamlessly with the existing roof system. The completed project dramatically transformed the interior space by increasing daylight, airflow, and overall functionality.
